One Simple Tip To Get You Going: Jan. 1, 2007 is Your Perfect Time to Form One New Habit — Delay! Yeah!

Good morning, wanna-be Sugar Kickers out there!

Today’s a brand new… year!

That’s so cool to be able to say that.

Of course, given that it’s the start of 2007, you may be inclined to get going on a whole bunch of resolutions.

I’m going to invite you to start small.

Today, I invite you to begin doing the first of what I call "The Six D’s."

So where’s what you’ll do:

The next time a sweet-smelling cookie or donut or piece of cake tempts you, you’ll hold on, brace yourself, get present and DELAY!

It’s so simple! You will delay for all of one minute. (Time yourself those 60 seconds. Spend that minute, rooted in place, thinking about how you’ll feel tomorrow if you slip. Won’t be too happy, will you?)

Still tempted? Delay another minute. (Go to the ladies’ or mens’ room — even if you have no need to go. Fix your hair. Reapply your makeup. Pull in your stomach.)

Now delay another minute. (Take some deep breaths. Then think: You, Cookie, Are NOT My Friend.  I do NOT need you.)

Does that cookie still call out to you? (Get outta there — wherever temptation lurks — and delay some more.)

Keep delaying and delaying until at least 5 minutes have passed. Then delay another 5 minutes.

This tactic works wonders! I know.

I used it a lot nearly 9 years ago (back in 1998), when I kicked sugar and refined carbs on doctor’s orders.

Boy am I glad that I perfected my skill at proscrastinating and turned it into one heck of a useful skill! I delayed my way to good health, sent 44 symptoms packing, and now I have more energy, enthusiasm and zest than just about everyone I know.
