Mow Lawns to Lose Weight

You gotta hand it to Minnesota resident Darrell Nelson for coming up with a creative, workable diet. According to KTVO-TV in St. Paul, the property inspector is now mowing lawns for free — about eight a week — so he can start shedding excess weight.

Evidently, all that mowing — combined with skipping the soda and fast food — has helped him to peel off 23 pounds so far. He’s hoping to get down to 208 by the end of mowing season — that means he’ll lose 50 pounds.

  1. I actually just got done mowing my front lawn. I bought a push mower and my husband won’t touch it, so it’s all up to me. Especially in the Georgia humidity and this summer heat, I work up a huge sweat doing this. I also have to be really careful being diabetic — it’s so effective that I end up needing to replenish fluids and food when I’m done. I’m not ready to mow all my neighbors’ lawns yet, but I can see why Mr. Nelson has lost weight. Good for him. I hope he keeps it up and reaches his goal.
