About My Book, I Blew My Diet! Now What?

Every day, around the world, millions of people cave into cravings for junk foods filled with sugar, gluten, unhealthy fats, salt, and other sweeteners. Soon after inhaling those dangerous, processed, edible substances, guilt, remorse, and self-loathing may rush in.

“I blew my diet,” they may complain inwardly or to friends. “Now what?” My next book is all about that.

How My Interest Was Ignited 

Before you read any further, I need to make a confession. I was once like you. My descent into runaway bingeing began soon after the most grueling, heartbreaking year of my life watching a brutal cancer take my mother’s life. Within days (or was it minutes?) of her death, I pigged out as never before.

While reeling from grief, Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and inadvertent abuse, I simply caved into ultra-processed chips, crackers, and popcorn. I simply couldn’t get enough. Sound familiar?

Day after day, week after week, month after month, I shoveled in mounds of these carbs, which I now call carbage (carb garbage). I felt ashamed. Humiliated. Furious at myself. Even worse, I felt like a big fraud. You see, I know better. I mean I really know better!

I’m author of the bestselling books, Sugar Shock! and Beyond Sugar Shock. I’m also a super-clean eater, a certified health coach, a life coach, and health journalist, who, for more than a decade, had been guiding thousands of people worldwide to Sweet Freedom™, as I call it.

Within weeks of my loss, I packed on 21 pounds. Suddenly, I became one of some 160 million adult Americans or 2.1 billion people worldwide, who are overweight or obese. And along with the rapid weight gain came a slew of health problems, including insulin resistance.
