10 Diet-Destroying Habits to Avoid

If you’re trying to shed some weight — and have encountered obstacles in the past — you’ve got to read this fascinating article, "10 Habits That Mess Up a Diet," that’s running on eDiets.com.

In it, John McGran, eDiets editor-in-chief, interviews renowned nutritionist Elizabeth Somer, M.A., R.D., author of the intriguing book, 10 Habits That Mess Up a Woman’s Diet (McGraw-Hill).

Elizabeth Somer: 10 Habits That Mess Up a Woman's Diet

If you want to peel off the pounds, I daresay you’ll benefit from Somer’s advice and her book. In fact, I bet her "Terrible Ten" list, as listed on eDiets.com, rings a bell to many of us.

Ever made these mistakes that Somer spotlights and eDiets.com recounts?

  • Mindless Eating
  • Putting Others’ Needs Ahead of Our Own
  • Not Being Honest
  • Skip the Broccoli, Eat the Fries
  • Setting Off Without a Plan
  • Excuses, Excuses, Excuses
  • I’m Moody — Let’s Eat!
  • Give Me the Quick Fix, Now!
  • Drinking Away Our Waistlines
  • The All-or-Nothing Approach to Dieting

Kudos to Somer for putting down in black and white the many pitfalls that trap us!

I have to say my favorite part of the eDiets.com story was this section and quote about the dangers of mindless eating and noshing with consciousness:

"Responsible nibbling leaves little or no room for highly processed foods," Somer points out. "Most convenience foods — from commercial cookies, candy, and breakfast bars to chips, flavored popcorn, and ‘fat-free’ desserts — are low in fiber, phytochemicals, vitamins, and minerals."

Well, first I recommend that you read the full eDiets.com article and then click here ASAP and get 10 Habits That Mess Up a Woman’s Diet so you don’t ever make those disastrous dieting errors again. I’m getting it now myself.
