Often, you hear about the virtues of leafy greens, eggs, spouts and berries.
But, sadly, these allegedly healthy foods have hit the Top 10 list of foods that have made people sick. Bummer!
In fact, 76 million people are hit by foodborne illnesses each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Of those cases, 300,000 people are hospitalized each year, and 5,000 die — just from what they ate.
Thanks to the Science in the Public Interest, a list of the most potentially dangerous foods has been published.
- Leafy Greens
- Eggs
- Tuna
- Oysters
- Potatoes
- Cheese
- Ice cream
- Tomatoes
- Sprouts
- Berries

Dr. Jennifer Ashton, a CBS News correspondent, suggests the following to avoid foodborne illness:
- Wash fruits and
vegetables well. - When cooking, bring meat
to about 160 degrees. - Freeze your foods, because doing so can also kill bacteria.
- If you're at a salad bar, go for the foods further back to avoid foods that
may be contaminated in the front.

I don’t believe this. I thought all green leafy vegetables, berries and tomatoes are more nutritious than meat fat.
