Wildly influential master marketer and brilliant best-selling author Seth Godin has a gift for provocative brevity. He creates the kind of masterful statements that trigger thinking galore from people around the globe, who then personalize the meaning of what he said.
Seth’s recent one-sentence post, "Creavity and the Unexpected," offers a jewel of a thought that’s getting blgggers going.
He merely states: "Just because it’s on the menu, doesn’t mean you have to order it."
I, too, am inspired by this influential "agent of change," who’s been dubbed "Ultimate Entrepreneur for the Information Age" by Business Week, as his website explains.
From my Stop SUGAR SHOCK! perspective, Seth’s compelling, one-sentence blog post, "Just because it’s on the menu, doesn’t mean you have to order it," means:
- You can choose to rise above menus (when you’re dining out or when you’re working with consultants, etc.)
- You have the power: You don’t need to let menus dictate what you eat (or think, for that matter).
- You can say no to "tantalizing," disease-generating dishes (filled with sugar, salt and trans fats) and thoughts and instead give your body and mind foods (and thoughts) that are healthy and nourishing.
- Use some imagination when you order. (After all, as his fabulous book, Unleashing the Idea Virus tells you,
- Create your own nutritive menu and creatively unleash your good ideas into the marketplace. (Check out Seth’s fabulous book, Unleashing the Idea Virus, for more compelling, inspiring words of wisdom.)
What do you think Seth’s powerful statement means?
