I’m thrilled, because at 6:30 p.m. tonight (EST), the esteemed physician Michael Roizen, M.D., co-author of the wildly successful books, YOU: The Owner’s Manual and YOU: On A Diet, I will interview me on his YOU: The Owner’s Manual Radio Show on Health Radio Network.
Wherever you are based in the country (or the world, for that matter), you’ll be able to listen to the chat Dr. Roizen and I will have.
For instance, you could listen here, while I’m on the air. Or you can listen to the podcast afterwards.
While you’re checking out Health Radio Network, you also may want to check out some of many other interesting shows about health, wellness, medicine and fitness, which are hosted by well-known health authorities, physicians and experts.
Of course, if you read health news, you’ll certainly have heard of Dr. Michael Roizen or even seen him on TV. Frankly, I marvel at how he keeps up with his busy schedule.
First off, he’s chair of the Division of Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, and Comprehensive Pain Management at the Cleveland Clinic.
He also took time create the revolutionary Real Age Makeover concept of calculating one’s biological, as opposed to chronological, age.
HIs RealAge: Are You As Young As You Can Be? became a # 1 New York Times bestseller.
Then, his RealAge.com website is also popular with people wanting to reverse their biologic aging and live longer, more vibrant lives.
Then, recently, Dr. Roizen, along with co-author Dr. Mehmet Oz, have been cranking out one inspiring, to-read YOU book after another.
In fact, I invite you to check out their latest, YOU: On A Diet, which flew to the top of the New York Times bestseller list and is still a hit with readers.
The two doctors call YOU: On A Diet "a waist-loss book," and they encourage you to "ditch the scale in favor of the tape measure.
"They also encourage you to "diet smarter, not harder."
As the YOU Doctors’ Center points out, the "secret" to YOU: On A Diet’s the success of the program is that "It’s not a diet."
Rather, they insist, "It’s a simple, new way of eating that uses body chemistry, not will power, to succeed."
The YOU Doctors’ Center website contains all kinds of valuable information.
In fact, it notes, that:
You burn fat, which means you don’t store it.
You feel healthy, not hungry.
You reach your ideal size.
You avoid the internal aging that causes heart disease, memory loss — even wrinkles. |
I also highly recommend that all of you health-conscious people reead the pair’s previous book, YOU: The Owner’s Manual: An Insider’s Guide to the Body That Will Make You Healthier and Younger.
There are many reasons that it, too, was a hit with health-conscious consumers and still is. Perhaps Publishers Weekly put it best:
"Anti-aging guru Roizen and celebrated heart surgeon Oz combine their popular approaches to patient -centered care in this assessment of how much, or more to the point, how little, readers know about their bodies. After taking the quizzes in the book, readers may feel shocked by their ignorance of basic anatomy and the processes required to maintain physical and mental functioning. Each chapter focuses on a body part or system (heart, brain, digestive, reproductive, etc.) and discusses diseases associated with it; genetic and lifestyle influences on its aging process; and foods, supplements and habits that can prevent or reverse related illnesses. The book has an entertaining feel: friendly elves guide readers through illustrations of the body and cartoons feature alien creatures that enter the body and cause illness. The humor is irreverent (e.g., muscle cells surrounding dead heart tissue "start fighting with each other, like Jerry Springer’s guests, instead of supporting each other, like Oprah’s" [incidentally, the authors will appear on Oprah in May to promote the book]). Despite a 10-day, 30-recipe food plan and a less-is-more exercise regime, however, readers may have trouble using the information to create a lifestyle that will fulfill the authors’ promise of weight loss, disease prevention and longevity. Even the recipes target one specific area of the body and weaken the overall conceptual framework. This lighthearted book will be most useful to those who like their health lessons served with a side of humor." (May 1)

Dr. Roizen and Dr Oz have hit on the interesting topic of an owner’s manual for a healthy body. By applying simple techniques on a regular basis, you can maintain a good quality of life with an extended lifespan. Isn’t that what we all really want?
