In Beyond Sugar Shock, we’ll celebrate wholesome, quality foods, because when you let go of your junk-food habit, you’ll begin to relish clean, healthy foods. In fact, when people first come to me for help, they often say things like, “I hate my body” or “I detest my big belly.” They also believe that quitting their heavily entrenched habit is close to impossible. They’ll say, “I just can’t envision life without my favorite sugary snacks.” That’s why just addressing your Mind and Body isn’t nearly enough. To truly make lasting peace with your sugar or carb relationship—and to rise above it and let it go—you also need to address your Spirit. By that word, I mean two things. First, your goal is to regularly fill up on activities that nourish and replenish you. For instance, you’ll need to get both sufficient Vitamin Z (sleep) and physical activity. Both will lift your Spirit. Once you’ve boosted your morale, you’ve set the stage to take yourself to an even higher plane so you can really focus on your Spirit. Doing such enriching activities as meditation, forgiveness, gratitude, or yoga will soothe you, lift your moods, and strengthen your ability to happily and gracefully follow through with this program. You may even begin to experience more joy and freedom, feel more connected to your higher consciousness, and become more eager to pursue your passions. Letting go of your addictions will allow you to get a yummy, sweeter, delicious, scrumptious, luscious, sensuous life—one that I call sweeterlicious.
