Diabetes Diagnosed Every Seven Minutes in Australia

It’s not just the United States facing a diabetes epidemic.

Australia’s most populous state and home to about 6.8 million people, New South Wales, saw type 2 diabetes rise 70 percent to 530,000 confirmed cases over the last five years, according to the Diabetes in NSW Atlas 2007 released last week and reported on by The Sunday Telegraph.

According to that story, the numbers mean that a new victim is diagnosed with the disease every seven minutes.
