Looks like those ubiquitous fruit and veggie stickers are on the way out. Instead, laser-created tattoos are coming in vogue.
The stickerless "track-and-trace" technology is part of the produce’s industry’s efforts to identify and track everything Americans eat, whether for profit or security.
Check out the New York Times for more.
I’m just wondering: Is it safe if one accidentally eats the tattooed area on these fruits and vegetables?

Hmm…I dunno–I’d rather deal with a few extra seconds of peeling off harmless stickers from my fruit. I guess we’ll just have to eat around the area that was zapped.
Ah, technology, eh?
this makes me angry, i don’t like this idea at all and there is seemingly nothing that i can do about it. it seems to me a few extra moments to peel the sticker is fine, but i am sure it boils down to the bottom line for profit and to think they are compromising our health for profit is really disgusting.
