Sugar-Operated Splenda Website Posts Consumer Complaints

The Sugar Association — which runs the website, TruthAboutSplenda.com — has begun posting comments from consumers, who recount their experiences with the chlorinated artificial sweetener, "without the filter of misleading advertisements and slick marketing," the organization announced recently.

I’m so intrigued by the irony of this. When it comes to Splenda, I’m in staunch agreement with American sugar cane and beet farmers.

Indeed, TruthAboutSplenda.com — which was launched earlier this year in reaction to the deceptive marketing campaign that erroneously depicts Splenda as natural — does a decent job telling consumers the real truth about the artificial sweetener.

Special thanks to Mercola.com for the lead on this news item.

  1. I agree with you about Splenda’s ads being misleading, and have been convinced to give it up as artificial compounds have no place in our bodies. Back to Stevia in total I guess.
However, I think you need to address the TruthAboutSplenda’s posting the statement
“Based on the data available on dental caries, behavior, cancer, risk of obesity and risk of hyperlipidemia, there is insufficient evidence to set an upper limit for total or added sugars.” — Institute of Medicine Macronutrients Report, Sept. 2002″
as it is ALSO just as misleading as the statements made by Splenda’s manufacturers.
I know this is being a bit nitpicky, and, perhaps you already have and I missed it as this is my first visit to your site — Just felt I needed to comment on that as others who are unaware of hypoglycemia or are unconvinced who go to that site may take it for total truth.
Thanks, you have a great site!
    All the best,
    Victoria
