Rates of obesity and diabetes are growing much faster in New York City than in the country as a whole, according to research by the city’s health department, which was published in the journal Preventing Chronic Disease.
Obesity and diabetes rates in New York shot up 17% between 2002 and 2004, while the national obesity rate increased by 6% and the incidence of diabetes nationwide didn’t increase significantly in that same time frame.

This is sad news, but there is more hope for people with obesity-induced diabetes. In this video(link below), “researchers have discovered how to stop a critical braking mechanism that makes obese people non-responsive to insulin, leading to diabetes.”
