France Bans Vending Machines From Schools

A new law in France that went into effect Thursday bans all vending machines from schools in France, a move to tackle the country’s growing child obesity problem, BeverageDaily.com reports.

But the law — which bans any food or drink, including fruit and bottled water, as well as Coca-Cola and Mars bars — is controversial and some think it goes too far.

It’s interesting to see how other countries also are attemping to address their burgeoning obesity problem. Alas, the U.S. isn’t alone in its problems of growing girth.
