A Look at “Sugar Shock”

It’s time to clarify the confusion since I’m not on deadline right now for my next book, I Blew My Diet! Now […]

Taking a Quick Time Out to Write My Next Book to Help You

Join the Conversation: Have you ever written a book or wanted to write a book?
I’m taking a few days away from emails and the Internet during this Easter weekend and post-Passover time to work on my next book.
At present, I need to get back to writing, but let me briefly share that this book is the follow-up to my first book, Sugar Shock, which Dr. Mehmet Oz praised, and Beyond Sugar Shock, which was published by Hay House and was endorsed by many health and empowerment gurus such as Dr. Wayne W. Dyer, Dr. Daniel Amen, Brian Tracy, Dr. Christiane Northrup and many others.
For my third book, I’m not going through a traditional publisher.
Instead, I’m taking the self-publishing route, and Balboa press Logo_MainI’ve signed up with Balboa Press, which is a division of Hay House.
My publishing contacts at Balboa Press are being so incredibly nice to me — I couldn’t be happier! — and they’re helping me implement some very innovative things. (More later.)
What’s really nice about self-publishing with Balboa Press is that I can speed up the timeline and schedule my book when I want it to come out.
I’ll announce the publication date soon, but it’s a pub date that may make you chuckle. Seriously!
Right now, I have to get back to writing my next book, but right now, let me share my fondest wish and deepest desire for this book — my mission is to help and serve people worldwide. Stay tuned.

Sugar at “Safe” Levels Can be Deadly

Inevitably, the damning research about sugar keeps pouring in.
Indeed, another study reveals sugar’s deadly dangers — even when consumed in “safe” amounts.
Talk about scary.
The mice died more often, as shared by
Science Daily. Not only that, but they had fewer babies.
For the study, University of Utah researchers gave mice a diet of 25 percent extra sugar and ran a sensitive toxicity test. (When you give a mouse 25 percent extra sugar, it’s the equivalent of a healthy human diet, plus three cans of soda daily.)
Although the mice didn’t become obese, the females on the sugar-added diet died at twice the rate of the control group. In addition, the males on the sugar-added diet produced 25 percent fewer offspring than the control group and acquired fewer territories, according to a University of Utah news release.
“These findings represent the lowest level of sugar consumption shown to adversely affect mammalian health,” states the study abstract, published today in the journal Nature Communications.
Does this finding scare you enough to make you want to quit sugar?
If so, I invite you to get help in my latest book, Beyond Sugar Shock: The 6-Week Plan to Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction & Get Slimmer, Sexier & Sweeter. I’m honored that this book, from Hay House, has been praised by a Who’s Who of health and empowerment experts, including Dr. Wayne Dyer, Dr. Christiane Northrup, and Dr. Daniel Amen.
If you get Beyond Sugar Shock, let me know what you liked most about it.

Learn How to Tap Away Your Cravings, Pain, & More with Nick Ortner

Have you heard yet about tapping, the simple, but remarkable technique, which can help you easily manage and get to the core causes of your cravings, stress, anxiety, chronic pain, addiction, excess weight and just about any situation or challenge you’re facing?
No matter what you’re facing, you absolutely MUST learn about tapping or EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), which is revolutionary, but extraordinarily easy-to-do process.
Stay tuned, because next week (April 24), on my Gab with the Gurus Show, you’ll have a chance to learn about tapping from Nick Ortner, author of the fabulous New York Times bestselling book, The Tapping Solution. (As with all Gab with the Gurus Shows, you can listen live or later.)
Nick will explain to you that tapping or EFT is based on principles of both ancient acupressure and modern psychology. You’ll concentrate on specific meridian endpoints while you focus on negative emotions or physical sensations. (Yes, you want to zero in on what’s going on that’s driving you to sweets, making you anxious, or creating agony. Last night, tapping helped me so much with my grief-triggered insomnia — darn, did I sleep well afterwards!)
Nick, who is quite personable (he was on on my Sugar Freedom Now Virtual Camp a while back) will explain how, when you combine tapping with the spoken word, you’ll calm your nervous system to restore the balance of energy in the body and rewire your brain to respond in healthy ways.
Anyhow, make sure to join Nick Ortner and me on the Gab with the Gurus Show.
Spread the word to your friends, too.
All who listen to the Gab with the Gurus Show with Nick Ortner and buy his book, The Tapping Solution, will be able to get two free gifts. These will be of special interest to sugar or carb addicts or people, who want to shed weight.
You’ll get a program in which Nick helps sugar and carb addicts by helping you come up with the right words to use as you bid your addiction bye-bye. (This is a program Nick and I did to help members of my Sugar Freedom Now Virtual Retreat.)
You’ll also get a program, in which I interviewed tapping expert Carol Look, who helps you to deal with your cravings.
Both of these programs are quite powerful.
Obviously, you can guess that I’m a HUGE fan of tapping or EFT. In fact, I’m so excited about this simple, but revolutionary technique to help people with cravings, trauma, stress, and pain that I’ll soon undergo training myself to become a tapping practitioner. Plus, I’m working with an expert referred by Nick to help me triump however my traumatic last year with mom and its devastating aftermath.
Remember, to save the date: April 24 at 9 am PST to learn about tapping with Nick Ortner, author of the fabulous New York Times bestselling book, The Tapping Solution.

Sugar Addicts in the San Francisco Bay Area: Let Me Liberate You Sat., April 13

Connie celery_clean copySugar and carb addicts, get help to free yourself from your potentially deadly habits on Sat., April 13 at 7 pm at Book Passage in Corte Madera.
Indeed, it’s now my honor and privilege to personally guide, coach, educate and empower sugar and carb addicts in the San Francisco Bay Area on Saturday, April 13, which is, coincidentally, two days before a momentous time for me.
Yes, on April 15, I will have gone 15 years sugar-free (mostly)! Bear in mind that I wasn’t perfect, and not beating up on myself too much or slipping is one of the keys to my success. (You’ll find out how you, too, can be imperfect but still triumph over your sugar addiction.)
The program at Book Passage is being presented, thanks to the remarkable organization, Left Coast Writers, a fabulous group that supports new and established writers.
Please note that this appearance at Book Passage is my first talk and book signing since the publication of my book, Beyond Sugar Shock: The 6-Week Plan to Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction & Get Slimmer, Sexier & Sweeter.
The reason that I didn’t do any book signings or give any solo talks in 2012 (other than one appearance as part of a group of authors) is because I wanted to spend as much time as possible with my terminally ill Mom before she passed away. Recently, I lost her. (In fact, I moved from the East Coast to the West Coast to be near her and be of service to Mom before she passed away. (One of our most fabulous moments during our last year together was when two boxes of books arrived from my publisher, Hay House, and my mother raved, “Absolutely terrific” and “Beautiful.” I have a video of the special occasion.)
Anyhow, during my first Beyond Sugar Shock appearance on April 13, I’ll give you insights and simple starter secrets so you can:
Activate the positive power of one of procrastination. (Huh? Trust me — it’s a simple, calming tool.)
Quickly decode and then welcome (really!) your annoying sugar cravings.
Remember the sour scoop about sugar (that it can lead to cancer, type 2 diabetes and even kill you early) when you’re overcome by must-have-sugar-now! feelings.
Pick yourself up after you’ve “slipped” and fallen off your less or no-sugar plan, especially after emotionally trying times.
Dissolve your desire for dangerous sweets but still enjoy tasty chocolate treats. You’ll even find out how to get recipes for healthy choco-goodie and get to savor tasty sugar-free desserts.
Stop being duped by innocent-looking, seductive foods that are actually sugar traps.
Laugh at my — and your — silly-on-sugar behavior. (You’ll chuckle at my former Sugar Shrew ways!)
In short, in our time together, you’ll get to Turbocharge your Sugar-Free Power.
The event on April 13 takes place at:
Book Passage
51 Tamal Vista Blvd
Corte Madera

Are You Addicted to Sugar

Be Your Own Everyday Valentine First

Every February 14, we’re obligated and encouraged to offer shows of affection to our sweethearts, if we have one, by giving chocolate, flowers, cards, jewelry, etc.
What’s wrong with this picture?
You need to love yourself before you can love anyone else.
Or, as I wrote in my article on Heal Your Life, “Before you shower someone else with love and affection, you need to bestow love and affection on yourself. Only then can you be a wonderful sweetheart.”
Today, I’d like to urge you to be super-sweet to both your special someone and yourself all year long.
In other words, as I put it on “Be an Everyday Valentine” on Heal Your Life, “You want to be a valentine all 365 days of the year.”
Now, see my article to learn four ways to start to Be an Everyday Valentine.
Special thanks to Hay House for featuring my article on the Heal Your Life site and Facebook page.
