(Week 1) January 5, 2006: "Tales of Two Ex-Sugar Addicts and Hypoglycemics, Who Now Devote Themselves to Helping Others"

In this first program, I’ll dish the the dirt about my journey from wiped-out, woeful sugar junkie to cheerful, focused sugarfree adventurer and inspirational kick-sugar coach. I’ll tell tales about my "Sugar Shrew" days and then quickly recount my remarkable journey to health in 1998, when I kicked sweets, on doctor’s orders, because of my hypoglycemia. Next up is a very special guest: Roberta Ruggiero, founder and president of the Hypoglycemia Support Foundation. When I kicked sweets, Roberta was the only person (other than my doctor), who gave me support and encouragement to accomplish what you’re now tackling alongside hundreds of other people.

Roberta, who formed the Hypoglycemia Support Foundation in 1980, will also share her eye-opening, frustrated, painful story and how she overcame 10 years of misdiagnosed illness, during which she saw dozens of doctors, endured countless medical tests, took thousands of pills and even underwent electric shock therapy. Roberta and I will reveal that many–but not all—sugar addicts have an underlying blood sugar condition such as hypoglycemia, pre-diabetes or diabetes. Roberta has helped hundreds of thousands of hypoglycemics and she is author of The Do’s and Don’ts of Hypoglycemia: An Everyday Guide to Low Blood Sugar, acclaimed by the American Library Association as "one of best lay medical books."

This tele-seminar also will bring on KickSugar founding nutritionist Keri Gans, M.S., R.D., C.D.N., who is in private practice in New York City and who hosts Manhattan Neighborhood Network’s TV show, "Diet Diva." Keri will discuss the many benefits her clients have received from cutting out sugar and improving their diet.
