Frankly, I just can’t fathom why anyone — especially teachers — might be miffed that they wouldn’t be able to buy soda during the school day.
I’m talking about the mixed reaction a proposed school nutrition policy is getting in New Hampshire, according to The Concord Monitor.
You see, part of the proposed suggestions call for soda being booted out of teachers’ lunch rooms. Now, maybe you and I see it as a good thing that soft drinks won’t so easily find their way into teacher’s bodies — after all, who wants a teacher to educate youngers while in SUGAR SHOCK! — but apparently the idea isn’t receiving hearty support.
Let’s face it, aren’t teachers supposed to set an example? Maybe some of them are hooked themselves on nutrient-lacking soda?
Then, apparently not everyone likes the fact that, under the recommended policy, schools wouldn’t be able to put on fundraisers selling junk food. Again, I think that’s a wonderful idea.
Sounds like some of these New Hampshire teachers, parents or adminisrators could benefit from talking to other administrators from other schools around the country that are being successful in bumping junk food from their premises and in raising money by selling things other than nutrient-lacking crap.
