Teens Could Beat Diabetes With Exercise

Thanks to Mercola.com for alerting us to a study showing that overweight teens at risk of developing diabetes could delay or even prevent the disease by performing strength-training exercises.

The study, which was published in Medicine & Science In Sports & Exercise, focused on 22 overweight Latino teenagers, and found some good news.

Despite the fact that roughly 50 percent of Latino children born in 2000 expected to develop type 2 diabetes, the researchers found that a "twice-per-week 16-wk resistance training program can significantly increase insulin sensitivity in overweight Latino adolescent males independent of changes in body composition."
