Dolly Parton’s Funny Take on Dieting (an Audio Post)

Today’s post is mostly a short vlog (voice blog) post.
You’ll hear a very humorous quote from Dolly Parton about dieting.
Thanks so much to my friend Jena LaFlamme, a health and wellness expert, for telling me about this fun quote.
By the way, Jena — who shares my passion for living a healthy, sweet life — offers a cool Pleasure Weight Loss Summer Camp with her colleague Marc David.

Authors, Sugar Addicts & Others with Bad Habits: ICF Certification Celebration Special for First 15 People

This week, I received my certificate from the International Coach Federation, which presented me the designation of Associate Certified Coach (ACC).
To celebrate the fact that I’m now an ACC, I am offering to the first 15 people a chance to work with me for a special Coaching with Connie ICF Certification Celebration rate.
This is my second coaching certification. I’m also certified as a Certified Professional Coach from iPEC (the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching), CPC Logo small the acclaimed, rigorous program where I studied to become a life coach.
In addition, I’m a certified health coach, thanks to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), where I also studied.
Now that I’m triple certified and have years of wonderful “pre-succeeding experience” (heck, call it “failing”) to quit sugar, kick other bad habits or write my first book, I’m more than ready to help more people.
It would be my honor and pleasure to help you accomplish your goals and dreams. If you’re among the first 15 people who act, you can receive my special Coaching with Connie ICF Certification Celebration rate. I specialize in three areas. Specifically, I can help you to begin:
* To break free of your sugar addiction.
* To realize your dream of writing a book.
* To quit another bad habit or what I call a babit™.
Space is limited for this special offer: You will receive 3 private phone sessions with me for only $300. (That’s a savings of $50.)
In addition, you will receive a gift:
* If you’re a sugar addict, you’ll get complimentary access to a replay of my 7-week Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction program.
* If you’re a writer, you’ll receive a complimentary audio download of the “How to Write How-To Articles” program with Publicity Hound Joan Stewart.
* If you’re seeking to lick another horrible habit, you’ll get an audio replay from my “Thrive, Don’t Just Survive” program.

Coaching with Connie ICF Certification Celebration Pre-Summer Special (3 Sessions)
By the way, for those of you who would like to become a health coach and life coach, I highly recommend both the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). If you’d like to study at either institution, just tell them that Connie Bennett sent you. Please note that I do get a referral compensation from both places. However, I would praise iPEC and IIN even if they weren’t nice enough to compensate me.
Both iPEC and IIN and utterly amazing places. So if you want to be a certified life coach or certified health coach, I recommend that you act immediately by calling either iPEC and/or IIN.

Sugar Sugar Time (And I Don’t Mean Sweets!)

Thanks to talented journalist Dana Kennedy — creator of the clever blog, A Year Without Candy — for reminding me of the fun pop song, Sugar, Sugar by the Archies.
This song makes me smile. I can’t begin to remember how many times radio hosts have played this song before they interviewed me about my book Sugar Shock!
Please enjoy this. And of course, I’m not posting this to make you think about sweets (as in the sugary kind) but to think about having (non-sugary) sweetness in your life — something I invite you to find, get and create.
Dana 52 And, readers, please join me in congratulating Dana for making it 90 days without candies, cookies, etc. Way to go, Dana!
See my interview with Dana here, in which she articulately shared why she’s choosing to go A Year Without Candy.
Would you like to join her? Can you go A Year Without Candy or another unhealthy substance or activity?

An Overlooked Health Epidemic: My Op Ed Piece on AOL News

“We’re in the midst of a terrifying epidemic, although you wouldn’t know it to talk to most doctors and health specialists.”
That’s what I wrote in my opinion piece, that was posted on AOL News on Friday.
Just in case you were on vacation, I wanted to make sure you see this.
“The disease is growing at a rate faster than AIDS,” I continued.
“From 2006 to 2008 alone, the number of cases jumped a whopping 77 percent. In 2008 alone, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention listed 28,921 “confirmed” and 6,277 “probable” cases of the disease, but there could be as many as 420,000 because of underreporting.”
“Prominent victims include Parker Posey, Richard Gere, President George W. Bush, Alice Walker and Christie Brinkley,” my op ed piece on AOL News points out.
Lyme map “If any other disease had stricken so many people, the medical community would be scurrying for knowledge, scrambling for cures or rushing to warn patients (think swine flu).
“But that’s not the case with Lyme disease — a disease carried by ticks.
“Instead, ill-informed doctors are often flummoxed when patients complain of fatigue, headaches, fever or chills, muscle or joint pain, mental confusion, swollen lymph nodes and neurological symptoms. It’s an appalling display of indifference.”
Anyhow, at last, two years after my own terrifying health experiences, my op ed piece is on AOL News.
Learn more about this terrifying epidemic on Wednesday, June 2 at 2 pm EST on my Gab with the Gurus Radio Show when I interview several Lyme disease experts.
And please share your or your friends’ experiences and insights here and on AOL about your or their terrifying, often-misunderstood disease.
Many thanks to my smart health friend JJ Virgin, to whom I’m greatly indebted for helping me to quickly find out why I was so sick two years ago.
In addition, my gratitude goes to the following for their support and invaluable help:
* Knowledgeable Lyme disease expert Kris Newby, senior producer and researcher for the eye-opening documentary, “Under Our Skin.”
* Talented editor/writer Abby Ellin
* Katie Orenstein and Danielle Grace Warren of the fabulous Op Ed Project (which you can learn more about soon on an upcoming radio show)
* Talented editors/writers Susan Shapiro and Gerry Jonas
Please read my important op ed now on AOL News now.
And please join us Wednesday, June 2 for my Gab with the Gurus Radio Show about Lyme disease.

3 Gifts in Honor of 12 Years Off Sugar Today!

Fireworks02What an amazing day! A dozen years ago today, on April 15, 1998, I very reluctantly took the advice of my doctor and ditched sugar. It was either clean up my diet or continue to be waylaid by 44 ailments, from migraines to heart palpitations to severe fatigue to severe PMS.
In honor of my 12 years off sugar, I bring you three gifts. First, you can listen below to my fun anniversary radio show today, where I reminisced about my life back in 1998 when I was riddled by a whopping 44 symptoms.
Then, I thanked and interviewed my gracious heroine and selfless savior Roberta Ruggiero, founder and president of the Hypoglycemia Support Foundation, which has helped millions of people around the world who are suffering from low blood sugar.
On today’s Gab With the Gurus Radio Show, you also can listen to two of my clients, Dawn and Terri, talk about their lives were dramatically transformed by kicking sugar. Then, you can get insights from former sugar addict Karly Pittman, who now runs First Ourselves to help women with food issues.
Finally, you can catch my interview with journalist Dana Kennedy, who now runs her entertaining, insightful, A Year Without Candy blog. Read my recent interview with Dana about her creative venture to boot candies out of her life.
Now, listen to yesterday’s interview with another of my heroines, the anti-sugar pioneer Nancy Appleton, whose recent book is the eye-opening Suicide by Sugar.
Roberta Now that I’ve made it to this special day of 12 Years Sugar-Free (mostly), I’d like to again extend my profound gratitude to Roberta Ruggiero, without whose help I may have never made it. I certainly wouldn’t have written my book Sugar Shock! if it hadn’t been for her steadfast, consistent, loving support. Nor would I be here helping others to get over their sugar habit.
Speaking of helping others, gift # 3 is a free teleseminar to give you Tips to Let Go of Your Sugar Addiction. Sign up her to get the audio replay.
So would you like me to do for you what Roberta did for me back in 1998? It would be my honor to help you Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction in 6 Weeks, starting April 20. If you act now, you can get the Early Bird Special, which ends today.
Let me help you Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction in 6 Weeks so you can lose weight, boost your energy and get out from under that monkey on your back.
