“Refrigerator Door Disease” Hits Millions (Spoof)

Uh oh, I think sometimes I suffer from Refrigerator Door Disease or RDD, where I just peer inside and find that there’s nothing good to eat.

And definitely, when getting ready for special nights on the town, I go through many bouts of Obsessive Wardrobe Change Disorder (OWCD).

Huh? OK, I’m kidding.

These two absurd non-existing health conditions come courtesy of Health Ranger Mike Adams of News Target, who wrote a satiric piece to stress that drug companies invent fictitious ailments to scare us Americans into thinking we have a disorder or dysfunction so we’ll buy drugs to "cure us."

Check out some other creative syndromes Mike invented:

  • Repetitive Remote Disorder (RDD)
  • Traffic Light Anticipation Disorder (TLAD)
  • Obsessive Hosiery Dislocation Disorder (OHDD)
  • And others

Just for the heck of it, I’ll add a few more serious health hazards that Mike somehow omitted.

  • Late-Night TV Syndrome (LNTS) — when you’re glued to the tube for hours and can’t remember what you saw the next day
  • Technology-Buying Disorder (TBD) — when you can’t resist buying the latest new gadgets. (Incidentally, I suffer big from this! You mean they’ll soon have drugs to cure me of my addiction? LOL.)
  • Negative Thinking Disorder (NTD) — when you just can’t see the rosy side of things.
  • Phone Chatting Syndrome (PCS) — when folks (mostly women) talk for hours to friends about nonsensical chit-chat, something that irks the heck out of their male significant others.
  • Book Writing Disorder (BWD) — when you think you have a book in you, even if you have absolutely nothing interesting to say, but you write it anyway. (Eesh, let’s hope that’s not why I wrote my book, SUGAR SHOCK!)
  • Carb Idiocy Disorder (CID) — when folks stupidly eat quickie carbohydrate crap over and over again. (OK, I concede, this isn’t funny in the least, because it’s probably true for millions of Americans.)
