We just wrapped up Day 1 of Gratitude Week on Gab with the Gurus. Listen below to learn about: How gratitude can […]
Today begins Gratitude Week on Gab with the Gurus. For the next five days, you can listen to five different shows featuring some 20 gurus telling you about the different benefits you receive from having a thankful state of mind.
For instance, during Gratitude Week’s five shows on Gab with the Gurus — which you can listen to live at 2 pm Eastern or later, at your convenience — you’ll discover:
– Why gratitude is the ultimate anti-depressant.
– How easy it is to make gratitude a daily habit.
– How gratitude can reverse the obesity epidemic.
– How gratitude can help you overcome addictions and food issues.
– What items are on the Gratitude Lists of such celebrities as Alicia Keys, Sheryl Crow, Dolly Parton, BB King, Kurt Vonnegut, Elmore Leonard, Morgan Freeman, Jeff Bridges, Francis Ford Coppola, Kristen Bell, Forest Whitaker, NBA great Steve Nash and Deepak Chopra.
* – How gratitude can enhance your happiness, optimism, self-empowerment and connectedness.
– How being grateful helps combat grouchiness, reduce stress and pain, trigger creativity, increase spirituality and resolve challenging situations by focusing on what’s working instead of what’s not.
– How love and relationships flourish where there’s gratitude and forgiveness.
– How to feel grateful even if you’re having a difficult day, month or year
– How to use gratitude to accomplish your goals.
– How gratitude can affirm your life’s purpose.
Gratitude Week was inspired by my scary July 4 head-on collision into glass. After my frightening experience, I’m overcome with a profound feeling of thankfulness that I’m alive and that I scraped by with only headaches, dizziness and minor cognitive confusion, which my doctor dubbed post-concussive syndrome (post concussion syndrome. I’m also grateful that my nasty bump on the head has inspired me and given me great ideas while I’m writing my next book, the follow-up to Sugar Shock, which will be published by Hay House.

5) Are You Single? Learn about Love Mentoring with Dr. Diana Kirschner
If you’re single, you’ll definitely want to know about this exciting fr*ee program on Wed., July 14 at 9 pm Eastern (6 pm Western) with my friend, the acclaimed relationship expert Dr. Diana Kirschner, author of “Love in 90 Days.”
Diana — who has helped thousands of people find love — is doing a a wonderful fre*e teleseminar with another friend Cynthia Rowland, to tell you about the value of love mentoring to find love.
Study after study has shown that adults who are mentored are more successful in their careers and in school. Women, in particular, have greatly benefited from mentoring with reports of greater self-esteem and a heightened ability to break through the “glass ceiling.” And love is no different. Learn more here about this fr*ee program to educate you about love mentoring: http://tiny.cc/ks0su
I’m beginning to think I have a concussion after slamming head first into glass (that I didn’t realize was glass) on July 4th. (I described my scary incident here.)
What other way can you explain my horrific headaches (we’re talking BAD!), a need to ice my head every few hours (that really helps!) and a fuzziness in the back of my head? Oh, and some cognitive stuff.
Again, thanks for your many kind wishes.
Also, thanks for those of you who sent your ideas, insights, etc. Per the blood sugar control question, my blood sugar was well managed. (I learned my lesson back in 1998, when I kicked sugar so I had eaten a healthy snack a few minutes before bopping my head into the glass.)
The large window just had no sticker on it! I didn’t know it was glass! As one reader wrote, it was Glass Shock! (Not Sugar Shock!)
I’m off to get rest (head is begging for a pillow) or get medical help. And I’m going to pursue the MRI suggestion.
Thanks to this site for the cartoon.
Again, I have to remember — I am soo thankful that I’m alive!
For what are you grateful?
Have you had a frightening incident such as mine? What happened?
Yesterday, I shared to subscribers of my free Motivating Morsels ezine and to readers of this Sugar Shock Blog about my horribly scary experience on July 4, where I ran head first into a large piece of glass. (I also slashed my hand.)
Although I’m riddled with a FEROCIOUS headache, spaciness, a sore hand and more, I just wanted to take time out to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to all of you, who’ve been kind enough to email me personally or even call me to offer your sympathy.
I’m so very touched by your many kind words, and as I sit here feeling not very good (OK, awful), it means a lot to me that you took time to contact me!
I’ve also heard a few stories that sound uncannily similar to mine where other people smacked right into glass, too. Ouch!
If you don’t know about my frightening close July 4th encounter, read about it here, on this Sugar Shock Blog.
Keep your comments coming, please! They cheer me up. I’d be grateful for additional remarks here on my Sugar Shock Blog, on my Smart Habits Fans page on Facebook or (if we’re already Facebook friends — sorry FB won’t let me make more friends, which is why I’m inviting you to join my fan page).
FYI, I need to lay low and take time off for a few days, because I have to see my acupuncturist, ice my head and face, take naps and find out if I have a concussion. In the meantime, here are some of the many beautiful responses I’ve received. Thank you all so, so, so much!!!
* “Dear Connie, I’m grateful that you’re alive. That was a close call! I shudder just to think of it! Hope you feel better soon, Evelyn”
* “Prayers for quick healing, Connie!!!!!! Sending love. Dorothy.”
* “Connie, Sorry to hear about your accident, it is a wonderful blessing to be above ground…..take care of yourself and thanks for all you do…. Dorothy.” (Another Dorothy)
* “Dear Connie, I am sorry you had to go through that. The same thing happened to me years ago and it was quite traumatic. I am glad you are feeling better and back to work. Independently yours,
Sheila” (Yes, it was traumatic, Sheila!)
* “GOOD GRIEF!! I’m so sorry to hear this, but once again, it is very metaphorical. Feel better soon.
Smiles, Eliz”
* Connie: I am happy that you are OK. You are an inspiration to many people. It is also wonderful that you live in an attitude of gratitude. Your affirmations are certain to excel your healing. Many blessings, Olivia. P.S. I will listen to your radio segment. Thanks for sharing.”
* “Dear Connie, Thank God that you are ok and a positive attitude goes a long way. Take Care,
June”
* “Yikes, happy to hear you are going to recover and be ok after your encounter with that glass!
Take care! Liz”
* “How awful! I’m so glad you’re on the mend. I have the mantra that it’s good to be alive, after 9/11 since I spent over 2 months at the site as an NYPD Sergeant. You have a great attitude and you’ll be back to new in no time! Thank God you’re okay. I am so relieved. Cordially, Deborah”
* “Oh, Connie! How awful, but how wonderful that it wasn’t worse! You were in my thoughts a lot over the weekend, and perhaps I was picking up on your accident. I’m glad you are OK. You are a special person, and this kind of accident happens so quickly! Anyway, pamper yourself, let me know if there is anything I can do for you, and please be careful! Personally, I think the name “After Shock” [for your next book] is the best! And congratulations on being with Hay House. Get that book out ASAP!
Hugs, Jeannie” (Jeannie, a client of mine, then shared that she’s been sugar-free for a couple of months — congrats! — and has lost 15 pounds. “I feel really great! I think the best part is the evenness of temperament, and the lack of heart pounding in the evening.”
* “Dear Connie, I am so glad that you are recovering and I am so grateful for you that it wasn’t worse because it sounds very bad as it is. Speedy recovery and blessings. Sherri”
* “Hope you are feeling better soon. I have done the same thing. Take good care of yourself; your work is an inspiration. Cathie.”
* “CONNIE…PLEASE SLOW DOWN AND TAKE TIME OUT TO HEAL!!! WE NEED YOU!!! LOVE, ROBERTA.”
* “Dear Connie, I am so glad that you are ok. It sounds like you had a very scary experience. You are important to many people. There isn’t a day that goes by that I am not grateful to you for what you do and what you have done for me. Thank you again. God Bless You. Dawn” (Dawn was a former client of mine, who I helped to kick sugar about a year ago. She’s still doing great! Yeah!)
* “Grateful you are still with us, Connie. Sending healing light, Ken”
* “Connie, You’re very Blessed and lucky! My son went thru a sliding glass door, years ago and almost bled to death…and had hundreds of pieces of glass taken out of him. Glad you’re all right! Mary. In God We Trust!”
* This next comment made me smile amidst my head throbbing. “WOW! Talk a bout an explosive 4th of July! So glad to hear you are ok. Will pray that God places his healing hands on you! Thank God it wasn’t any worse!! Take good care & heal well! Regards, Billie”
* “Greetings Connie, I’m so glad to hear that you survived that horrific accident. Please take it easy and be very good to yourself. I hope that you will get well soon! Thank you for all that you do. Sincerely,
Leona.”
Thankfully, there were more remarks, but I’m feeling cruddy, and I need to go ice my head and rest.
I look forward to more comments here and on Facebook — either here (if you got in as a friend before I hit the 5K limit) or here, in the Smart Habits Fans on Facebook.
One final thought: Who the heck gets hurt on July 4 of all days? What weird timing! I now declare my independence from any negativity about this hurtful incident!
Because I’m feeling so grateful, look for more Gab with the Gurus radio shows about gratitude and its power. Listen to last week’s (before my accident) here. Stay tuned.
I invite you to listen to the interview I did with Petey Silveira for her New Pathway to Healing Radio Show. You […]
Welcome to your weekly Motivating Morsels Ezine, where you get entertained, educated and motivated.

& Andrea Beaman in Oprah’s Host-Your-Own-TV-Show Contest on
OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network)
===========================================
Oprah_beta You may have heard that Oprah and TV producer Mark Burnett have been inviting people from around the country to apply for the Your OWN Show video competition.
(Just in case you don’t know, Burnett has received accolades for introducing competition-based reality TV show to the United States. (He’s the one behind “Survivor” and “The Apprentice.”)
Anyhow, Oprah and Mark are looking for the next great TV talk show host to appear on Oprah’s new network, OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network).
Betsy Rosenberg Many talented people have applied, but in particular, I invite you to immediately check out the videos submitted by my talented colleagues/friends Betsy Rosenberg, Donna Sonkin and Andrea Beaman.
Then vote for them if you like what they submitted.
(I’m sure you’ll love what they did!)
Please watch their short videos now – and then cast your vote.
First, I urge you to watch Betsy Rosenberg. She’s truly amazing. She’s like the Eco Queen — in other words, she was a pioneer in the go-green movement, who was talking about recycling when many of us didn’t know what it was. (OK, I’m exaggerating a bit.) Betsy has an amazing background, too.
Please watch Betsy’s video now and vote for her:

Donna_sonkin Donna Sonkin — she’s a talented, funny, charming friend from IIN (Institute for Integrative Nutrition). It’s been wonderful to watch her collect a following for her fabulous work to help women get Thin for the Camera.
Watch Donna’s video and then vote for her:

Andrea_Beaman Please view the video from Andrea Beaman, who I met because she taught at IIN. You may recognize Andrea from her “Top Chef” appearances. She’s personable, funny and dynamic, too.
Here’s Andrea’s video. Make sure to vote now for her, too.

^ (2) Why You Can’t Find My Video for the Your OWN Show
Competition (Yes, I’d Love My OWN TV Show, But…)
===========================================
Many of you have asked me whether or not I applied for Oprah’s competition and where you could find my video. You can’t find my video, because I never submitted one. Let me tell you why.
First of all, I gave this very serious consideration. I even developed a fascinating concept for my own TV show. (In fact, I’m really excited about my idea for a show, which I’ve never seen anywhere.)
But after reviewing the guidelines for the Your OWN Show Video Competition, I realized – regretfully – that I just could not apply right now.
Hay House images Here’s why: As I announced here last week, I just got a deal for my next book from Hay House, the leader in self-help and transformational publishing.
I’m very excited, honored and committed to writing the best book that can help, I hope, millions of people, break free of their sugar addiction for good.
Amazon Sug Sh 51RDZ7DBVAL._SL110_ As I studied the submission guidelines, I realized that if I had been fortunate enough to be selected as a finalist that I just wouldn’t have had ample time to commit to it. (You need to be able to leave town to compete for 6 weeks.)
In addition, another guideline gave me pause. It said that if you have another contractual obligation that may interfere, you should not apply. That was the line that ultimately stopped me from applying. (I’m days away from signing my contract with Hay House, and I’ll be in writing mode as the contest cranks up.)
Anyhow, I’m not about to jeopardize my book deal with Hay House. Work wise, that must be my priority. And I’m having a blast so far writing it.
So, even though I’d very much like my own TV show on OWN (or elsewhere), the time isn’t right.
But I’m still hanging onto my idea, because it would make for a great TV show. And my intention is to make it happen – but not while I’m on book deadlines.
Right now, I need to finish researching and writing my book. Speaking of which, would you please help me name my new book?

^ (3) Is Your Summer Intention to Find Love? My Friend Lauren
Frances Wants to Help You Single Ladies Become Engaged by New Year’s Eve
===========================================
Lauren frances007 With summer here, it’s time get clear on your intentions. For those of you females who are seeking the love of your life, I recommend that you pay attention. (For the rest of you, please skip to the next item, in which I encourage you to vote for the title of my next book.)
If you’re a single lady, my friend Lauren Frances wants to help you. She wants to turn you into a “Dating Lovebird.”
Actually, if you’re a single lady who wants to be married, Lauren – a renowned celebrity love coach, who has been praised by actresses Amy Brenneman and Kate Walsh – wants to help you become engaged by New Year’s Eve.
Kate_walsh9 In fact, Lauren claims that in 6 short weeks, she’ll teach you to turn casual courtships into serious commitments.
You’ll learn her breakthrough ‘man-manifesting’ process and healthy manhandling techniques (i.e. relationship skills) to which successful men RESPOND.
You can jump into this course whether you’re actively dating or not, or really want to be!
“Dating Lovebirds,” Lauren says, will show you how to go from flirting to seriously dating, and how to do partnership potential tests so you’ll stop wasting your time on what she calls “the 70% suitors.” (You know, the guys who ultimately waste your time because they’re not really the right guy?)
To learn about Lauren’s program so you can (according to her) get engaged by New Year’s Eve, go here:
==== >>>>
http://tinyurl.com/GetEngagedNewYearLauren-Connie
Lauren’s claim that she can help you get engaged by New Year’s Eve may seem far fetched, but just listen to one of her clients:
“Lauren, Thank you! Thank you! Your coaching got me from a first date to my honeymoon in just 3 months. Literally, we left for our Bermuda honeymoon on 5/27/10, which was three months to the day of our first date. Many thanks to you for the great velocity with which I was able to classify my NEEDS vs WANTS and recognize the man of my dreams the minute I met him. Love Linda”
(Linda didn’t want her full name used, because her new husband is the head of a Fortune 500 company and doesn’t know she has a love coach. Her story is so powerful because Linda is in her early 50’s, had never been married before. She wasn’t dating much for years before Lauren helped her. While her betrothal might seem super fast, her romantic results are not unusual, or even the exception, for Lauren’s students. Lauren believes that once you get the right information under your garter belt, and know the right actions to take to make your romantic dreams a loving reality, you’ll have your very own lovebird, too.)
Single and eager to learn more now?

Here’s some of what you’ll learn in Lauren’s course:
* How to spot ‘buying signs’ that he’s serious about dating you.
* Relationship Negotiation Skills to go from dating to commitment.
* How to rate his ‘Courtship Performance.’
* How long to give your dates a ‘chance’ when you’re not sure if there’s chemistry, or connection.
* How to spot when men are seriously pursuing the relationship.
* How to not get boxed in by one suitor until you’re SURE about him.
* How to inspire men to commit to you and your relationship goals.
* How to put men in a pecking order without ruffling their feathers
* How to tell when men are in ‘buying mode’ with you romantically, and falling in love with you.
* How to keep your freedom to keep shopping for The One when you’re just having fun
* How to turn a serious dating relationship into a serious commitment.
* How to tell if he’s a player who will only disappoint you down the road.
* How to stay committed to your romantic roadmap and MANifest it.
Please note that I’m an affiliate of Lauren’s – which means that if you sign up, I get compensated. FYI, I only recommend something unless I know it works. And in this case, I just had to become an affiliate after hearing about the success she’s had with clients.

But I’d like your help.
Right now, Sugar Shock’s successor doesn’t have a title yet.
So I decided to hold a Name My Next Book Competition.
Then my fabulous editor and I can pick the title that work best.
Already, I’ve received some great ideas, but I’d love to get many more.
Please learn more about the Name My Next Book Competition, and then submit your vote here:

Anyone who submits an idea will get a gift from me.
That’s right. All of you will get gifts.
First off, the final prize winner gets several gifts as you can learn here:

^ (6) I’m Biking for Charity: Would You Donate, Please, to the
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society? (My Team In Training (TNT) Bike Ride)
==========================================
One of my intentions this summer is to get amazingly fit and toned (better than I am now) – and help a worthwhile cause at the same time.
Therefore, I’ve joined the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training’s program.
It’s an amazing program, where we get the support of coaches and fitness trainers, meet great people and at the same time raise money for this worthwhile organization.
My goal is to bike 100 miles on Oct. 9 in the Seagull Century ride in Maryland. (Gulp! The most I’ve ever gone is about 35 to 40 miles. But they assure me that the training will make me more than ready.)
Anyhow, I invite you to make a donation – no matter how small.
All of your donations will go directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
I urge you to donate now.

Are you a sugar addict? Would you like to easily shed excess weight? Do you often get headaches, “brain fog” and fatigue? And are you suffering from a low libido, severe PMS or infertility?
Either way, this is for you.
I’m really excited and thrilled to announce that – after repeated requests from many of you – the follow-up book to my book Sugar Shock is on the way.
Hay House images Sugar Shock’s successor is coming to you, thanks to my new publisher, Hay House, which is the international leader in self-help and transformational publishing.
How will this new book help you? Well, let’s face it, cutting out – or even cutting back – on sugar and refined carbs is really tough for most people.
In fact, sugar addiction is a challenging situation to solve EVEN if you know that overcoming it can help you to lose weight, get more energy, boost your libido, prevent or reverse diabetes and live longer.
So, in my follow-up book to Sugar Shock, you’ll get valuable tools and tips that will make letting go of your sugar addiction simple – and even fun.
You may be wondering how this new book will be different from my first book, Sugar Shock.
Sugar Shock is primarily an exposé that spotlights sugar’s many dangers. One of my goals is for it to shock you into wanting to kick your bad habit. For instance, this book includes scary information about the link between excess sweets and obesity, memory loss, mood swings, troubled relationships, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, female problems and early aging.
On the other hand, my next book will give you a simple, compassionate, step-by-step plan to help you stop sugar shock and break free of your sugar habit for good.
In other words, my first book Sugar Shock dishes the sour DIRT about sweets.
Now, my intention with Sugar Shock’s baby (so to speak) is to tell you HOW to ditch desserts and get a healthier, happier, longer and much sweeter life.
After reading my new book, you will — I hope and believe — escape sugar shock, easily release weight, say goodbye to mid-afternoon crashes, experience joyous freedom, look and feel better than you have in years, and build a better life in the bedroom, if you catch my drift.
In this follow-up book to Sugar Shock:
* You’ll get many tried-and-true tactics — ones I created when I kicked sugar back in 1998 and ones recommended by dozens of other health experts. And you’ll benefit from my 12 years of coaching or connecting with people around the world so they can break free of their sugar addiction.
* You’ll undertake simple, interactive adventurcises™ (my word for adventurous exercises).
* You’ll discover several dozen ways to stomp out your sugar cravings.
* You’ll learn what color sugar lover you are. (Yes, we’re all different in our relationship with sweets, and this knowledge will empower you to make the right choices for you.)
* You’ll detox gradually so that your body, mind and even soul won’t go into shock.
* You’ll get meal plans and tasty recipes from a recognized nutritionist and exercise physiologist.
* You’ll learn to Enjoy a Sweeter Life Without Refined Sweets™.
* And much more.
But I’d like your help to name my upcoming book.
You see, although I know what I’m including in the follow-up to Sugar Shock — thanks to questions and feedback I’ve received from many of you — my wonderful Hay House editor and I still haven’t settled on the book’s title.
We have a number of thoughts, but right now, we’re going to let ideas percolate for the next week or two.
So would you be kind enough to give me your input?
Since you’re my target audience, what is a title — and subtitle — that would entice you to buy this follow-up book to Sugar Shock?
If my Hay House editor and I pick your title, you’ll get several gifts.
1. You’ll get one hour of complimentary coaching from me very soon.
2. You’ll get complimentary admission to an audio replay of my Break Free of Your Sugar Addiction in 6 Weeks program, which includes access to a private, members-only website. (Learn more at http://www.BreakFreeWithConnie.com)
3. And you’ll be one of the very first people to get a copy of my new book, the follow-up to Sugar Shock.
4. That’s not all. You’ll also get my profound gratitude.
5. Then, I’ll thank you in the book.
6. And I’ll also spotlight you here, on my Sugar Shock Blog.
Please share your great ideas for book titles now. What should my follow-up book to Sugar Shock be called? And, in your opinion, what is the best subtitle?
Now, before I part, let me take a Gratitude Moment. I just want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my new friends at Hay House for deciding to help me help you by agreeing to bring my follow-up book to Sugar Shock into the world.
Louise_hay_pic By the way, I highly recommend that you look into the life-changing, empowering Movers & Shakers events from Hay House, a company that was founded in 1984 by inspiring author Louise L. Hay, author of You Can Heal Your Life and Heal Your Body as a way to self-publish her first two books.
Both of Louise’s books books went on to become international bestsellers, and You Can Heal Your Life has sold a whopping 35 million copies worldwide and it established Louise as a leader in the transformational movement.
Events sponsored by Hay House are amazing, as I discovered upon attending the Movers & Shakers conference in New York City in December. (That wonderful event was, in fact, where I met Louise, which was a big thrill for me, because I’ve been a fan of hers for years. In fact, You Can Heal Your Life was one of the books that helped inspire me to overcome my sugar addiction.) At the Movers & Shakers conference in New York, I also had the pleasure of meeting Hay House’s motivating president and CEO Reid Tracy, my new editor and the dazzling author Cheryl Richardson, author of the life-changing book, The Art of Extreme Self-Care.)
I encourage you to learn more about Hay House’s programs and products that have a positive self-help slant and are conducive to healing planet Earth. Just go to ==== >>>> http://tinyurl.com/HayHouseMoversAndShakersConnie
Perhaps I’ll even see you in November at the I Can Do It conference in Toronto?
