2/3 of Adults Think They’re Healthy Eaters — Yeah, Right!

Give me a break. I simply cannot believe the findings of this new survey from Harris Interactive(R) that two-thirds of U.S. adults consider themselves "healthy eaters."

Other researchers have gathered information quite to the contrary.

But one nice finding is that half of American adults say they somtimes eat organic foods.

So the findings from Harris Interactive(R) conclude that:

  • Almost two-thirds (64%) of U.S. adults consider themselves healthy eaters
  • Almost half (45%) say they follow some type of health-conscious diet.
  • "Substantial numbers say they try to incorporate healthy foods into their daily meals and snacks."
  • "Many consumers also appear to be turning to the organic food sections in supermarkets for healthy options."

Can’t avoid the realism but just look around you at the swarms of overweight and obese people — now do you believe these findings?

Sounds like people have a misguided image of how they eat. At lest that’s my take on it.

The survey was entitled "Healthy Eating: Impact on the Consumer Packaged Goods Industry" (still hunting down the URL — let me know if you find it — Iv’e gotta dash).

The study was conducted online from January 3 to 10, 2006 among 1,040 U.S. adults.
