New York City To Call for Calorie Counts On Menus, Proposal Suggests

It’s still in the planning stages, but if a proposal goes through, restaurants will be required to list the calorie count of the food on their menus.

You gotta love the lead to the AP story, which ran in the New York Times today. The story begins quite provocatively and creatively:

“Would you like that burger with a side of guilt?”

Anyhow, as AP story points out, if the plan is approved, brightly lit menu boards that hang over the counter at McDonald’s might read something like this: “Double cheeseburger, $1 … 460 calories.”

Hmmm. This might certainly have an effect on sales, don’t you think?
