Video Game Features Fat as The Enemy

Video games, often blamed for the younger set’s inactivity, are starting to use virtual learning to fight obesity, the Los Angeles Times reported.

One of the interactive DVD entrees — set to be released in September — is "Escape From Obeez City," starring sexy, Angelina Jolie-look alike Soolynn, who combats evil forces that make people fat such as cholesterol, stress hormones and free radicals.

One video already popular with kids, Konami’s popular Dance Dance Revolution, works as both fun game and calorie burner.

And yet another upcoming game, "The Journey to Wild Divine: Wisdom Quest," even features spiritual guru and author Dr. Deepak Chopra teaching kids meditation in a lush sanctuary. What’s intriguing is that kids have to control their breathing to get to the next level, and they can’t cheat because biofeedback sensors monitor them. (Clever, eh?)

Not all health experts applaud these new games, but I think they sound promising. Sure, sitting around playing video games for hours isn’t the ideal, but it’s the reality for kids today. So, if you can’t fight ’em, join ’em, right?

What do you think about these new video games?

  1. Of course video games like these are a great idea, but don’t expect kids to play them. They would much rather play the more violent alternatives such as “Grand Theft Auto” or “Resident Evil.” Let’s be real.
