Whole Grains Lower Risk For Type 2 Diabetes

Note from Connie: We’ve heard before about the many benefits of whole grains. Now a new analysis of six cohort studies revealed that your risk of developing type 2 diabetes can  drop by 21 percent with every two additional servings (one serving = 16 grams) of whole grain eaten per day, we’ve learned from MedPage Today.com.

The researchers, led by Rob M. van Dam, Ph.D., assistant professor at Harvard Medical School’s Channing Laboratory, also found that bran appeared to be the most important part of the whole grain for reducing diabetes, according to their findings published in the journal PLoS Medicine.
