Sugar Shock Blog Gets New Name & Location So You Can “Get Your Fill Now”

Special Message from Connie:

As I write this, my three-year-old Sugar Shock Blog is being revamped, renamed and reincarnated. Soon, it will be moved to a new location, too.

Not to sound self-promoting, but… drum roll…

Please join me in welcoming your Get Your Fill Now Blog.

The blog is now being built, but when it goes live within the next week or two, you’ll be able to get to it directly at GetYourFillNowBlog.com.

The new title is intended to reflect the broader scope of this blog.

You see, when I began this Sugar Shock Blog in early June 2005, it was a place to update you about sugar news, trends and tidbits. Sweets were on my mind a lot, because I was heavily involved with researching and writing my book Sugar Shock! at the time.

Since then, the Sugar Shock Blog has evolved into something much bigger as my interests have expanded. You see, sugar education is only one of many things I now do.

At your new Get Your Fill Now Blog, you’ll get tantalizing tidbits and tips about a broad range of topics, including health and sugar, of course, but also social networking, blogging, personal empowerment, the Law of Attraction, volunteering, marketing, writing, charities, nice news (not negative), top trends, hot novels, dating, etc.

Just about anything goes on the new site except, of course, pornography or anything shady and untoward.

In addition, all blog posts will be short, sweet and succinct, using 100 words maximum, but preferably only 50 words.

In a way, I have the innovative Twitter and USA Today to thank for this new focus on brevity.

While Twitter invites people to take up to 140 characters to answer, "What are you doing right now?," the new Get Your Fill Now Blog will prod, entice, entertain and motivate bloggers there (I won’t be the only one) to do posts that address topics like this:

  • Can you believe this?
  • Isn’t this inspiring?
  • How’s this for stupid?
  • Did you know that this could enhance your health?
  • Doesn’t this sound like fun?
  • Have you read this? Seen this? Heard this? Visited this website?
  • Did you know this can fill you up in a way food can’t?

Basically, on the new blog, you’ll get quick, helpful snippets to help enhance your life.

And all of us — the contributing bloggers and I — will get to the point quickly. Like NOW!

In other words, the goal of this blog is to help you to "Get Your Fill Now," as this fast-food-oriented, convenience-driven culture mandates.

Rest assured, loyal followers of my sugar-liberation content and health updates, you’ll still get goodies (sugar-free, naturally) to help you out. They’ll just be shorter to read and easier to digest.

By the way, kicking sugar or breaking bad habits isn’t just about taking those substances or activities out of your life. Removing the nasty stuff isn’t all you need to do. You want to add in nourishing, satisfying, filling activities, too — ones that give you sweetness so the bad habits won’t lure you.

Anyhow, within a week or two, I hope, I’ll unveil the new design and site.

In the meantime, the multi-talented graphic designer Hillary Carlip of FlyHC is hard at work on a logo to reflect the blog’s new scope.

By the way, Hillary is one amazing woman, who’s also a multi-media artist and author — you’ve gotta see her wildly creative, utterly brilliant, entertaining video, which entices you to buy her new book A La Cart: The Secret Lives of Grocery Shoppers. She’s also a brilliant website developer — see the site she worked on Jennifer Anniston, for instance.

Meanwhile, while Hillary is doing her thing, the remarkable blog consultant and "Wild Woman Entrepreneur" Stephanie Cockerl is putting her magic to work.

For instance, she’s giving the Get Your Fill Now Blog a snazzy, new look to co-exist happily with Hillary’s compelling logo. Stephanie also is setting up all kinds of bells and whistles, and she’s moving elements from the old site over to the new location.

Sugar addicts, health counselors and other health-minded folks, take heart though. Despite the move, the Sugar Shock Blog will remain online to help you. You’ll still be able to search for archived posts at any time. (You just won’t find any more new content here after the new site launches.)

By the way, I’m seeking for thoughtful, creative, writers-bloggers, health counselors, essayists, humorists and life coaches — who are adept at getting to the point using few words — to make this new blog lively, tempting and filling.

So if you’re a talented writer, blogger, humorist, life coach, nutritionist, health counselor or observer of life and you’d like to contribute, please get in touch with me ASAP. FYI, you’ll be contributing your posts (sorry, no pay available), but being involved with this blog could help boost your visibility and, as they say in publishing parlance, your platform.

One last thing: I’m also in the middle of self-syndicating my new Get Your Fill Now column, which will soon begin appearing in newspapers and websites nationwide. My goal is to get nationally syndicated later once several outlets pick it up.

I’d love to hear from you. Send your suggestions for topics to briefly spotlight on the new blog. Feel free to names of publications, who’d be ideal for my new column. (I can’t post them on my blog until after they’ve been published. But once my Get Your Fill Now columns are up and running, you’ll be able to read all archives at GetYourFillNow.com. Please note: As of Sept. 5, 2008, the site is NOT yet live.)

Dear readers, I do hope you like these new directions I’m taking! My aim is still to help you conquer bad habits such as sugar addiction, to find new interests and to have a sweeter, happier life. Please feel free to send your ideas, thoughts, etc. on what to cover, etc.

Warmly,

Connie

  1. Good, but, I thought the other blog for addiction. I was addicted of alcohol for 14 tears and my live became unmanageable but now I am sober.
